On the most basic level, I want to create visually beautiful, heartfelt stories that you and your children will both want to come back to again and again.

Being a parent myself, I know that little people have big feelings and they don’t always know how to express or deal with them.  A great way to explore these feelings is to see them presented in picture books.  I hope that my illustrations will captivate your children and that they will be able to identify with my characters and see themselves mirrored back from the pages of my books.

My goal is to raise kind and confident children.  Children who are empathetic.  Children who are inclusive.  Children who don’t feel the need to comment on other people’s bodies, appearances, or choices.  Children who don’t easily cave to societal and peer pressures.  Children who will forge their own path.  Easier said than done, am I right?  The way I see it though, the more stories they hear, the more they can connect with, and the more opportunity we as parents have to start an open dialogue about all of the themes that we feel are important to live by.

My hope for all children is that they will always feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.  That they will follow their dreams and passions.  That they will be able to love what and who they love, blaze their own trail, and never feel the need to limit their joy simply because it makes someone else feel uncomfortable.  I hope they will lead with kindness and acceptance and treat others the way they would like to be treated.  The world always needs more love and it can all begin with the examples we set.
